Project focus: Promoting social cohesion and peaceful integration between refugees and host communities in Turkana County through dialogue, capacity building, and early warning systems.
Lead: Jacob Amai, Director of Africa Programs with partner, Kenya National Cohesion and Integration Commission.            

Training & Capacity Building

• Inception retreat and forum in Kakuma with 50 participants (Apr–May 2025).
• Local leadership consultations and community-led planning activities.
• Training the dialogue committee on early warning, psych-social support, and social media use

Coordination & Dialogue

• Four-day consultation in Kakuma (June 2025) with political leaders, humanitarian actors, and community representatives.
• Intra-camp dialogues between refugees and host communities.
• Addressed inequitable access to resources, refugee marginalization, and coordination challenges.

Policy and Advocacy-in progress

We are currently advancing several initiatives designed to strengthen refugee protection and foster peaceful coexistence:

• Documentary in production showcasing the voices and stories of refugees and host communities.‍
• Estão sendo desenvolvidos sistemas comunitários de alerta precoce e resposta para aumentar a segurança e a resiliência da comunidade.‍
• Está em andamento uma pesquisa-ação para compreender melhor a dinâmica entre refugiados e comunidades anfitriãs.‍
• Os modelos inclusivos de construção da paz serão fortalecidos para garantir a participação impulsionada pelas comunidades.
