Quênia | Promoção da coexistência pacífica em contextos de acolhimento de refugiados

Objetivo do projeto: Promover a coesão social e a integração pacífica entre refugiados e comunidades anfitriãs no Condado de Turkana por meio do diálogo, do fortalecimento de capacidades e de sistemas de alerta precoce.
Responsável: Jacob Amai, Diretor de Programas para a África, em parceria com a Comissão Nacional de Coesão e Integração do Quênia.            

Formação e capacitação

  • Retiro e fórum de lançamento em Kakuma com 50 participantes (abril–maio de 2025).
  • Local leadership consultations and community-led planning activities.
  • Training the dialogue committee on early warning, psych-social support, and social media use

Coordenação e Diálogo

  • Four-day consultation in Kakuma (June 2025) with political leaders, humanitarian actors, and community representatives.
  • Intra-camp dialogues between refugees and host communities.
  • Addressed inequitable access to resources, refugee marginalization, and coordination challenges.

Policy and Advocacy-in progress

We are currently advancing several initiatives designed to strengthen refugee protection and foster peaceful coexistence:

  • Documentary in production showcasing the voices and stories of refugees and host communities.
  • Grassroots early warning and response systems are under development to enhance community safety and resilience.
  • Action research is underway to better understand the dynamics between refugees and host communities.
  • Inclusive peacebuilding models will be strengthened to ensure community-driven participation.

Cultural fair (upcoming) to celebrate diversity and promote integration between refugees and hosts.
